THE BUTTERTON INCIDENT – A Synopsis: This novel begins during the opulent boom years of UK Advertising in the 1980’s. It follows Angelica, who seems to enjoy a Midas-touch as far as successful advertising campaigns are concerned. For all her success though, she cannot escape cocaine addiction and thus her vocational greatness is always tempered by her reliance on Colombian-chemistry.’ She continues with her ‘work hard- play hard philosophy on life, when she is abducted by an alien culture as she leaves a sex-party. The alien creatures are in evidence all around her social-orbit and a hybrid mix of both human and alien cultures are put in motion. Further genetic complications occur when Angelica returns to France after her ‘missing’ years in the wilderness. On this occasion her ‘second-coming’ introduces us to Francine and as one metaphorical star withers, another takes its place. So at that point in the novel, a hybrid world is foundered with humans and aliens co-existing in a newly-spawned duality. Francine is the offspring of this human/alien embryo and she is determined to survive, despite many knives being sharpened to execute her presence on Earth. In a fictional world that draws parallels with our ‘real’ society, Francine must adapt to a world that often denies her the right to exist or shuts down her aspirations. In both the real world and the fictional world of my novel, society often ‘kills’ what it cannot understand. This is the backdrop from which Francine emerges. Some keep her secret with care and love in their hearts, but most people want to wipe out Francine and her kind. “TBI – KILL WHAT YOU CANNOT UNDERSTAND”
